Visiting from Muscatine in Osceola on Tuesday, November 14, 1950, for his father’s heart condition, Dale wrote, “54 neighbors, 35 tractors, 26 wagons, 5 elevators, and 12 mechanical pickers picked Dad’s 3200 bushels of corn by noon. Approximately 50 acres. 30 neighbor ladies served dinner in East Chapel church. I took pictures. Big day.” Above: a wagon load of corn waiting to go to my Grandfather’s corn crib.
