In Muscatine on Monday, January 8, 1951, Dale wrote, “Worked 8 to 4:30. 10° above. Wrote report on alcohol loss of January 1st. Came home & fixed the fire at 11 A.M. Got a haircut in South End for 90¢. Had a light supper. Letter from Mother. Watched TV at night.” South End was the local name of the southern part of town.
