In Minneapolis on Thursday, December 19, 1957, Dale wrote, “The alcohol plant had Christmas dinner at The Peacock, I went too.  Took Helen downtown to the dentist after supper.  Stan went to school.  I stayed up to watch ‘Tonight’ with Jack Paar and Jonathan Winters and Charley Weaver.”  Jack Paar took over hosting The Tonight Show in 1957 after Steve Allen left it.

In Minneapolis on Wednesday, December 18, 1957, Dale wrote, “Cloudy with drizzle all day changing to snow after supper.  Helen kept Carl until after 10:30 p.m., his mother went to a party.  Stan went to choir practice at night.  Dalene decorated the Christmas tree.”  Carl was an infant Mom was baby-sitting.

Dale Gets X-Rayed

In Minneapolis on Tuesday, December 9, 1958, Dale took the day off work and wrote, “Went to Dr. Kelby in the Medical Arts building for X-rays on my lower abdomen.  X-ray cost me $20.  Low was 14° below zero.  Warmed up to 3° above.  Helen, Dinny, and I went shopping at Atlantic Mills in the evening.  Stan tried out for a musical group, ‘Choralaires.’”

In Minneapolis on Saturday, December 1, 1956, Dale wrote, “Up late and got breakfast.  Fixed the back porch light.  Greased the speedometer cable on the car.  Had the gas man fix our furnace thermostat.  Works perfect now.  Watched Army 7 – Navy 7 on TV.  Letters from Stan and Mother.  Went bowling with Dalene in the afternoon.”
